A Perspective on Disaster Preparedness

When discussing disaster mitigation and Early Warning Systems, many people immediately think of technology. While technology plays an important role, the effectiveness of any system ultimately depends on how well people understand the information they receive and how prepared they are to respond during an emergency.

Fast communication and reliable systems are essential components of public safety. This is why education remains a fundamental pillar of effective disaster preparedness and disaster risk reduction.

This perspective became one of the driving forces behind the collaboration between TOA Indonesia and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Indonesia in developing animated disaster education videos for children. Through simple storytelling and easy-to-understand visual content, the program introduces basic preparedness measures for earthquakes, tsunamis, and fires, helping younger generations build awareness and readiness from an early age.
